The work of Terre des Hommes in mozambique

Terre des Hommes has been present in Mozambique since 2000. The recent Cyclone Idai left about 1.85 million people, including 900,000 children, in need of protection and humanitarian assistance. Additionally, the cyclone has damaged the country’s school system, destroying over 3,500 classrooms and displacing about 9,000 teachers.
We are involved in rebuilding some of the schools destroyed by the cyclone and providing desks, chairs, toilets, and teaching materials. We provide psychosocial, health, and educational support through organizing recreational, cultural, and sports activities and distributing basic hygiene kits, food, and water. We have offered vocational training to women to open micro-enterprises. We are part of the national coalition against early marriages and raise awareness among families and girls about the associated risks.
