In Ecuador<\/strong>, we have been present since 2002<\/strong>. Here, 6 million<\/strong> children and adolescents, accounting for 35%<\/strong> of the country’s population, reside, with one-third of them living in poverty. Early pregnancies are common among teenagers, mainly due to insufficient information and prevention efforts. In the provinces where Terre des Hommes operates, there is a shortage of medical and teaching staff. While the educational situation has improved in recent years, 3% of children<\/strong> aged 5 to 14 and 13%<\/strong> of those aged 15 to 17 still do not attend school.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n WHAT DO WE DO WITH SPONSORSHIP PROGRAMS?<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n In the regions of Planchaloma, Rioverde Esmeraldas, Sigchos, Cant\u00f3n Lago Agrio, and in the western and central districts of the capital Quito, we carry out projects to support children through sponsorship programs with the aim of improving their living conditions. The project is part of comprehensive support for the Refuge Center of Dreams in the Toctiuco Neighborhood, which houses children and young people aged 7 to 18. Planned activities at the center include comprehensive health campaigns, dental care, educational assistance for children through ongoing school reinforcement activities for primary and secondary levels, and recreational activities.<\/p>\n
