Here, <strong>6 million<\/strong> children and adolescents, accounting for <strong>35%<\/strong> of the country&#8217;s population, reside, with one-third of them living in poverty. Early pregnancies are common among teenagers, mainly due to insufficient information and prevention efforts. In the provinces where Terre des Hommes operates, there is a shortage of medical and teaching staff. While the educational situation has improved in recent years, <strong>3% of children<\/strong> aged 5 to 14 and <strong>13%<\/strong> of those aged 15 to 17 still do not attend school.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff671d;\"><strong><span>WHAT DO WE DO WITH SPONSORSHIP PROGRAMS?<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>In the regions of Planchaloma, Rioverde Esmeraldas, Sigchos, Cant\u00f3n Lago Agrio, and in the western and central districts of the capital Quito, we carry out projects to support children through sponsorship programs with the aim of improving their living conditions. To achieve this:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span>We provide support for children&#8217;s education by supplying <strong>school materials and organizing recreational, sports, and psychosocial activities.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>We conduct <strong>health prevention<\/strong> campaigns.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>We provide <strong>nutritional support to students<\/strong> by offering meals and snacks.<\/span><\/li>\n<li>We promote <strong>awareness initiatives for parents, adolescents<\/strong>, and <strong>teachers<\/strong> on the topics of domestic violence, school dropout, and <strong>the rights of children<\/strong> and <strong>women.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=&#8221;4.17.6&#8243;
