SUPPORT FOR CHILDREN IN PERU<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

Terre des Hommes has been present in Peru since 2006<\/strong>. Despite the country’s economic growth, a large segment of the population, especially in rural areas, lives in poverty<\/strong>. The pandemic in Peru has had a dramatic impact with one of the strictest and longest lockdowns, the closure of schools<\/strong> well beyond the global average, and at least 100,000 Covid orphans<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Following the closure of schools, access to quality education has been severely compromised, and children<\/strong> from the most vulnerable families have been excluded from distance learning due to a lack of adequate resources.<\/p>\n

Social inequalities, child labor exploitation, and domestic violence are, unfortunately, everyday occurrences.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

How do we work?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

    \n
  • We provide educational materials<\/strong> to students and organize workshops<\/strong> and group activities<\/strong> to promote the social and psychological development of children.<\/li>\n
  • We support a center for the reception<\/strong> and support of girls who are former domestic workers<\/strong> or from particularly vulnerable families.<\/li>\n
  • We carry out awareness-raising<\/strong> activities and strengthen<\/strong> education in the most remote Andean areas.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    WHAT DO WE DO WITH SPONSORSHIP?<\/span><\/h3>\n

    In particular, in the districts of Monterrey, Huancarani, Quimirik, and Omacha, we carry out projects for children through Sponsorship<\/strong> with the aim of improving their living conditions.<\/p>\n

    Thanks to Sponsorship:<\/p>\n

      \n
    • We promote the enrollment<\/strong> and attendance<\/strong> of children living in poverty and social vulnerability, also conducting after-school activities.<\/li>\n
    • We offer medical and nutritional assistance<\/strong> both for children and families.<\/li>\n
    • We provide training activities for parents<\/strong> and vocational training for adolescents<\/strong> with the aim of offering them new skills.<\/li>\n
    • We intervene to reduce the incidence of migration<\/strong> of girls<\/strong> and adolescents<\/strong> who are brought to work as domestic workers in cities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
