Il numero dei matrimoni precoci sta aumentando in maniera preoccupante in Afghanistan. A denunciare la situazione, diverse associazioni attive nella provincia di Herat dove, secondo la Commission for the Elimination of Violence against Women<\/em>, \u201cci sono centinaia di matrimoni forzati che non vengono denunciati<\/strong>\u201d, spiega la portavoce Sonita Rezai. Il fenomeno dei matrimoni precoci nel Paese infatti \u00e8 estremamente diffuso ma sono pochissimi coloro che hanno il coraggio di denunciare. Sempre secondo la Commissione, nei primi sei mesi del 2016 sono stati denunciati solo 11 casi (erano stati quattro nel 2014)
\nUna realt\u00e0 confermata da Mozhgan Intizar, a capo della ong Sada women\u2019s support<\/em>\u201d. Le statistiche ufficiali \u2013 spiega \u2013 non sono nemmeno da prendere in considerazione. \u201cQuello che vediamo ogni giorno nel nostro ufficio ci dice che il numero \u00e8 molto pi\u00f9 elevato<\/strong>\u201d, spiega.
\nA spuntare le armi degli attivisti impegnati per il rispetto dei diritti delle bambine, c\u2019\u00e8 il fatto che queste possono intervenire solo nel caso in cui ci sia una denuncia. Difficile pensare che una bambina costretta a sposarsi abbia la forza di rivolgersi alle autorit\u00e0. E anche tra i parenti pochi si fanno avanti: chi volesse denunciare viene intimidito. \u201cLa richiesta di denuncia non dovrebbe essere necessaria \u2013 conclude Intizar -. Questi matrimoni dovrebbero essere considerati un crimine<\/strong>\u201d.
\nLaila ha 15 anni, vive nel distretto di Herat. \u00c8 sposata da due anni e ha un figlio di sei mesi. \u201cQuando ti sposi non puoi andare a scuola, non puoi giocare con i tuoi amici, devi cancellare tutti i tuoi desideri \u2013 racconta \u2013 soprattutto quando diventi madre. In quel momento ti si apre un mondo di problemi e soffrirai per il resto della tua vita\u201d. Laila ha persino rischiato di morire durante il parto: il suo fisico era troppo debilitato. <\/strong>Come spesso accade, la madre ha spiegato di aver acconsentito alle nozze della figlia appena tredicenne a causa della povert\u00e0 in cui si trova costretta a vivere la famiglia
\nIn Afghanistan (dove l\u2019et\u00e0 minima per il matrimonio \u00e8 16 anni, ma scende a 15 se c\u2019\u00e8 il consenso dei genitori) pi\u00f9 della met\u00e0 delle ragazze si \u00e8 sposata prima dei 19 anni. Di queste, almeno il 40% aveva tra i 10 e i 13 anni al momento delle nozze.<\/strong> Il portavoce del governatore della provincia di Herat calcola che almeno la met\u00e0 delle ragazze che vivono nel distretto si siano sposate prima di aver compiuto i 16 anni.
\nPovert\u00e0 e insicurezza economica sono le principali ragioni che spingono le famiglie a dare in sposa le proprie figlie ancora molto giovani: il \u201cprezzo della sposa\u201d che il futuro marito deve pagare pu\u00f2 tenere a galla una famiglia. Bisogna poi fare i conti con la guerra e gli attentati terroristici che ancora segnano molte aree del Paese. Fatima Baqiri, a capo dell\u2019Associazione indipendente afghana per i diritti umani (Aihrc) aggiunge che nelle aree occidentali del Paese \u201ca causa dell\u2019insicurezza, le famiglie cercano di combinare al pi\u00f9 presto un matrimonio per le figlie. Pensano che il marito le protegger\u00e0\u201d.
\nI matrimoni precoci distruggono \u2013 letteralmente \u2013 la vita delle bambine<\/strong>. Zahra aveva solo 15 anni quando \u00e8 stata costretta dal padre a sposare un uomo che non conosceva. Il matrimonio era uno scambio per trovare una moglie al fratello di Zahra. \u201cTolleravo il cattivo carattere di mio marito \u2013 spiega la ragazza -. Ma i problemi sono iniziati quando mio fratello ha divorziato da mia cognata. La situazione \u00e8 peggiorata e tutti i giorni mi picchiava\u201d. Cos\u00ec Zahra ha deciso di farla finita: si \u00e8 buttata dal tetto di casa tenendo in braccio il figlio. Il bambino \u00e8 morto mentre lei \u00e8 sopravvissuta e ora si trova in carcere con l\u2019accusa di omicidio. Deve scontare una pena di 12 anni di carcere.
