Questo fatto ferisce la nostra famiglia umana e ci ricorda quando il nostro mondo sia ancora profondamente prevenuto nei confronti delle nostre madri, delle nostre sorelle e delle nostre figlie.<strong> Oggi abbiamo il dovere morale di porre fine a una delle pi\u00f9 dannose tradizioni dell\u2019umanit\u00e0.<\/strong> E gli esperti ci dicono che \u00e8 possibile farlo nell\u2019arco di una sola generazione\u201d.<br \/>\nL\u2019arcivescovo sudafricano <strong>Desmond Tutu<\/strong>, premio Nobel per la pace nel 1984, da alcuni anni \u00e8 anche tra i fondatori della campagna \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.girlsnotbrides.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Girls not brides<\/a>\u201d, la campagna internazionale per sradicare i matrimoni precoci. Un fenomeno che riguarda 15 milioni di bambine e ragazze ogni anno.\u00a0\u2028\u2028\u201cLe ragazze non hanno la possibilit\u00e0 di scegliere quando sposarsi, con chi oppure se non sposarsi affatto. Per loro il giorno del matrimonio \u00e8 il giorno in cui devono abbandonare la scuola. Sono pressate per avere figli e non possono negoziare sesso sicuro o consensuale con il partner. Come giovani madri in attesa di un figlio corrono gravi rischi per la loro salute. Il parto, infatti, \u00e8 una delle principali cause di morte per le adolescenti nei Paesi in via di sviluppo. E i loro bambini corrono gli stessi rischi\u201d. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.girlsnotbrides.org\/desmond-tutu-child-marriage-harms-human-family\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">In un articolo pubblicato sulle pagine del quotidiano inglese \u201cFinancial times\u201d<\/a>, Tutu, ha analizzato le cause di questo fenomeno e le sue conseguenze sia per le ragazze, sia per il \u00a0contesto sociale in cui si vivono.<br \/>\nEd \u00e8 convinto che il fenomeno delle spose bambine possa essere debellato una volta per tutte: \u201c<strong>Le tradizioni sono state create dalle persone. E possono essere cambiate dalle persone\u201d<\/strong>, dice Tutu citando la vedova di Nelson Mandela, Gra\u00e7a Machel. Inoltre, negli ultimi anni alcune importanti campagne per prevenire le nozze precoci sono state lanciate dall\u2019Unione Africana \u00a0e dal governo del Nepal. Inoltre, le Nazioni Unite hanno inserito l\u2019uguaglianza di genere tra i Sustainable Development Goals da raggiungere entro il 2030.<br \/>\n\u201cLa sfida pi\u00f9 grande \u00e8 accelerare il cambiamento nelle citt\u00e0, nei villaggi, nelle case \u2013 scrive Tutu -. Gli attivisti che ho incontrato lavorano per convincere i genitori e le comunit\u00e0 che esistono alternative al matrimonio precoci. Ma molti non hanno le risorse economiche sufficienti per tradurre il loro coraggio in gesti concreti. Se avranno il supporto che meritano, queste ragazze potranno riconquistare la loro libert\u00e0\u201d.<br \/>\n<strong>Desmond Tutu cita poi il caso di Loveness e Ruvimbo<\/strong>, due giovani donne dello Zimbabwe, costrette a sposarsi ancora adolescenti ma che hanno avuto il coraggio di andare davanti a un tribunale per veder riconosciuti i loro diritti e<strong> far annullare un matrimonio celebrato quando erano ancora minorenni<\/strong>, seppure con il consenso dei loro genitori (come previsto dalla legge). Loveness e Ruvimbo hanno vinto. Segno che \u00e8 possibile cambiare le cose, garantendo a tutte le bambine la protezione prevista dalla legge.<br \/>\n\u201cSo che l\u2019arco di tempo di una sola generazione pu\u00f2 sembrare un lasso di tempo molto limitato per eliminare una pratica diffusa da centinaia di anni.<strong> Ma questo \u00e8 il motivo per cui i vecchi come me sono qui: per ricordare a tutti che cambiamenti sono possibili<\/strong>.
