Aumento delle temperature, piogge sempre pi\u00f9 scarse e irregolari, siccit\u00e0 e (per contro) inondazioni hanno reso le condizioni di vita sempre pi\u00f9 difficili in vaste aree del mondo. Soprattutto per le popolazioni pi\u00f9 povere, che vivono nelle aree rurali. \u201cPer molte di queste famiglie, la soluzione \u00e8 stata quella di dare in sposa le proprie figlie\u201d, si legge nella presentazione del documentario multimediale \u201cThe brides of the sun<\/a><\/strong>\u201d (\u201cLe spose del sole\u201d), un progetto d\u2019inchiesta realizzato dai giornalisti Gethin Chamberlain, Maria Udrescu e Miriam Beller in due Paesi (Malawi e Mozambico) dove l\u2019incidenza dei matrimoni precoci \u00e8 particolarmente alta.
\nGi\u00e0 oggi in questi due Paesi, la met\u00e0 delle ragazze si sposa prima di aver compiuto i 18 anni. I cambiamenti climatici peggioreranno ulteriormente la situazione<\/strong>: \u201cSi stima che circa un milione e mezzo di ragazze siano a rischio di diventare spose bambine, in conseguenza diretta dei cambiamenti climatici\u201d, si legge nell\u2019introduzione al documentario. Allargando queste stime ai nove Paesi africani in cui il fenomeno delle nozze precoci \u00e8 maggiormente diffuso, si calcola che questo rischio possa riguardare 23 milioni di ragazze a rischio di diventare spose bambine. Che andrebbero a sommarsi alle 41 milioni di ragazze con meno di 18 anni gi\u00e0 considerate a rischio.<\/p>\n

La povert\u00e0 causata dai cambiamenti climatici spinge al matrimonio<\/h2>\n

\u201cMi sono sposata a 15 anni perch\u00e9 vedevo che le mie amiche sposate avevano abbastanza da mangiare e avevano abbastanza vestiti. Mentre io soffrivo: mangiavo un giorno s\u00ec e uno no. \nLa povert\u00e0 \u00e8 uno dei principali fattori che incide sulla decisione dei genitori (e tal volta delle ragazze stesse) di optare per il matrimonio. \u201cNon esistono dati precisi, ma credo che il 30-40% dei matrimoni minorili in Malawi siano direttamente connessi alla siccit\u00e0 o alle inondazioni causate dai cambiamenti climatici<\/strong>\u201d, spiega Mac Bain Mkandawire, direttore esecutivo dello \u201cYouth Net and Counceling\u201d in Malawi.
